Rachel E. Moore
Rachel Moore holds her Bachelors Degree (BFA) and her Masters Degree (MFA) in Painting and Drawing from Louisiana State University. During her Masters study she was able to meet and work with reknowned artists such as Alex Katz, Lois Dodd, Stephen Brown, Alice Neel, Nel Sinton and Judith Linhares through the Artist in Residence and visiting artist program. She has exhibited her figurative, landscape and still life paintings in Louisiana, Texas, Maine, Pennsylvania, Arkansas and Washington, DC. in juried shows as well as private gallery exhibitions.
After graduate school she went to Maine to paint the landscape and ended up spending 15 years living and painting there. Travel and experiencing the unfamiliar remains important in her life.
Her work has always been centered about the figure. She also paints the landscape, still life and portrait.
She has spent her career in painting, teaching and in most aspects of commercial, theatrical and engineering design. Ms. Moore has been teaching at Navarro College since 2000 and now directs the Department of Fine Arts.
