Psychology
The field of Psychology is dedicated to understanding human thought and behavior using scientific methods. This field is one of the most popular majors in U. S. colleges and universities and is often chosen as an undergraduate major for students pursuing careers in Business, Education, Law, Medicine, Social work as well as Psychology. It is a very broad field; opportunities are found in clinical, counseling, developmental, sports, industrial, school and educational psychology. Psychologists study human development, brain functioning, learning, motivation, emotion, memory, judgment, language, personality, mental disorders, social interactions, and many other aspects of human behavior and thought. Most occupations directly within the field of psychology require graduate degrees and working independently as a psychologist typically requires a doctoral degree. However, many students use undergraduate psychology degrees in a wide variety of occupations. The psychology department at Navarro College includes a variety of courses designed to prepare the student for pursuing a psychology degree at the university level.
