Parent/Guest
Parent/Guest Orientation sessions run concurrently but separately from the students’ Summer Orientation sessions. Parents and guests are encouraged to attend Orientation at the same time as their students, but should be aware that contact with your students is limited during Orientation sessions. Over half of our students attend Orientation with parents or family members.
During Summer Orientation parents and family members have access to many of Navarro College’s resources, faculty members and administrators. One of the best parts of the program is the opportunity to interact with current faculty and staff members who provide a rich perspective on life at Navarro. Parents/family members are able to share questions and concerns with the faculty and staff members and other parents in a comfortable and relaxed setting.
Who should attend?
Parents/Guests are not required to attend Orientation; however, most do choose to attend. Parents who attend Orientation are able to help their student better understand the nature of the information presented. Please note: all sessions are intended for adult parents/guests; child care is not provided.
Cost of Parent/Family Orientation
The cost for Parent/Guest Orientation is $5 per person. This fee covers all orientation materials and lunch on Thursday. This fee does not cover the cost of lodging as families will need to secure their own lodging Thursday night accommodations.
What to bring
Parents/family members will need to bring the following to Orientation:
- Comfortable clothing and shoes (a jacket or sweater is also recommended)
- Notebook/notepad and pen or pencil
- Umbrella (Texas weather is unpredictable!)
- Spending money (the bookstore will be well stocked!)
