GOODELL NAMED 2nd TEAM ALL-AMERICAN
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Freshman outfielder Kaleb Goodell was named an NJCAA Second-Team All-American Tuesday when the mythical squads were released.
Goodell, a 5-11, 160-pounder from Spring, led Region XIV hitters with a .411 batting average (65 of 158). The Klein Oak High School product drove in 37 runs and scored 34 during the regular season for the Region XIV finalist Bulldogs. Goodell hit 13 doubles, two triples and and had a 2-to-1 walk to strikeout ratio (30 / 15).
The only other Region XIV player honored was San Jacinto College-North freshman lefthanded pitcher Anthony Banda of Sinton, who was selected to the third team. Banda recently was picked in the 33rd round of the major league baseball first-year player draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
