PASADENA — The Navarro Bulldogs are among four of the top Texas junior college baseball programs that will clash during the next three days at the San Jacinto College Tournament of Champions.

Coach Whoa Dill’s 16th ranked Bulldogs join three teams currently ranked among the NJCAA’s Top 9 for the meet.  Coach Tom Arrington’s 6th ranked San Jacinto Ravens, an NJCAA Tournament qualifier in 2012, will host the tournament that also features 7th ranked Grayson (44-16 in 2012) and 9th rated Howard (45-12) from Region V.

Navarro (2-2 in 2013) met the Ravens in Thursday’s noon opener.  The rematch of Region XIV championship game qualifiers features a pair of squads that are coming off early-season losses.  The Bulldogs dropped a doubleheader Saturday to the Galveston Whitecaps, 5-4 and 6-2.  Meanwhile, San Jacinto will be trying to snap a three-game losing skid that includes a twinbill loss to Temple, 9-6 and 8-7 in its most recent outing.

The Bulldogs also play a 3pm Thursday game against Grayson’s Vikings.

On Friday, the Bulldogs will face a noon encounter against Britt Smith’s Howard Hawks.  Like San Jacinto, the Hawks enter the tournament on a three-game losing streak after being swept by McLennan at Waco.   The Bulldogs and Hawks will square off again at 11 am Saturday.

All games will streamed on the internet at www.tsrnsports.com   Follow the links to hear the play-by-play call of Lynn Michaels for the entire series.

After the busy weekend, the Bulldogs will return home for a new, quickly scheduled 1 pm non-conference doubleheader Monday against Region V Weatherford College at Perry D. Graham Field on campus.
