Farewell Tweets sing praises for Estelle

News of basketball coach Johnny Estelle’s departure Tuesday afternoon to The University of Houston prompted a flood of reactions via social media, especially from supportive friends and coaching colleagues who use Twitter.  Here are some of the re-tweeted responses:


Navarro Director of Admissions/Registrar David Edwards: “Johnny Estelle is one of the classiest guys I know.  Character, commitment, and loyalty.  Hate to see him go but so proud for him.”

Current Central Oklahoma football coach Nick Bobeck: “Proud of my friend Johnny Estelle.  New assistant basketball coach at the University of Houston.”

Corsicana High School Principal Herbert O’Neil:  “Hate to see Johnny Estelle leave Corsicana!  Great guy with a great family!  Tough loss for our community!  Great new gig though!

TVCC Sports:  “Best wishes to Johnny Estelle at UH.  Navarro and Region XIV is losing a great coach and a classy guy — very classy.  Good luck, Johnny.”

Former Texas Wesleyan Coach and Navarro College Assistant Terry Waldrop:  “Congrats to Johnny Estelle on the new hoops job. Sky is the limit!  Another Navarro/Coach Orr guy excelling.  Proud of my roots and NC family.”

Former Baton Rouge Assistant Bobby Sibley: “Never would have thought coach Estelle would leave Navarro College.  Coach Lewis Orr, Buzz Williams and Coach Estelle are Navarro College….Coach Estelle taught me so much while working for him at Navarro, and I am extremely happy to know that he is heading to a great program….Coach Estelle was the best coach I’ve ever been around besides Coach Lewis Orr.  Offensively & defensively his teams play hard!  Good Luck Coach….
