Softball gets 6-game weekend at regional round-robin

Softball’s doubleheader Wednesday with Odessa at UT-Arlington was cancelled, so the 15-8 Bulldogs will turn their attention to the three-day Region XIV Round-Robin Tournament beginning Friday at Lear Park in Longview.

A total of 14 schools will participate in a 39-game schedule on four fields during the course of the weekend, weather permitting.   The annual invitational generally gives all Region XIV teams a ‘preseason’ glimpse  before league plays begins.

Games are scheduled Friday at noon, 2 pm, 4 pm and 6 pm.  Saturday contests will be played at 11 am, 1 pm, 3 pm and 5 pm.  Final games Sunday are set for 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm.

Joining Navarro in the round-robin are Region XIV East Division foes Trinity Valley, Paris, Bossier Parish, Kilgore, Kilgore, Northeast Texas, plus South Division members Angelina, San Jacinto, Lamar State-Port Arthur, Galveston, Alvin and Coastal Bend.  The field expanded to include Butler CC, Ks., and Eastern Oklahoma.

Navarro is scheduled to play two games daily.

On Friday, the Bulldogs draw Coastal Bend at 4 pm, and Eastern Oklahoma at 6 pm.  Saturday, Navarro faces Butler at 11 am and Lamar State-Port Arthur at 3 pm.  On Sunday, NC draws games at 9 am against Alvin and 11 am against Angelina.
