Unbeaten volleyball hosts Hill Tuesday

TYLER — Bulldog volleyball is the talk of campus after a perfect 4-0 performance during the two-day Dana Hatch Invitational at Tyler Junior College.

Navarro scored straight-games victories over 20th-ranked Temple and Cedar Valley College on Friday and over Western Texas on Saturday during their Pool 3 play.  It took four games against North Central Texas College of Gainesville in their finale Saturday, but coach Kasey McBrearty’s Bulldogs took a lot of positives from their play at Gentry Gym in the Ornelas Health and Physical Education Center.

The Bulldogs won. They gained early confidence.  Their plan, approach and work to that end has been validated, and it showed.  They’ll put it all on display again at 7 pm Tuesday  when Hill College comes to the K. and Ida Wolens Special Events Center for the non-conference home opener.  Coach Alisa Blair’s Lady Rebels, a conference champion in 2013, competed last weekend in the Lady Bear Invitational at Brookhaven College in Dallas.

An unbeaten NC team would like to carry a five-match winning streak next weekend to Brenham for the Blinn Invitational, where the 2013 NJCAA Division I champions play.  Navarro is one of six teams competing in the two-day Applebee’s Classic at Brenham.  Tentatively on Friday, the Bulldogs are scheduled to face Eastern Arizona at 9 am and New Mexico Military Institute at 5 pm.  On Saturday, NC draws Yavapai CC, Az, at 11 am and the host Lady Buccaneers at 7 pm.
