Passing game sparks Bulldogs to 66-20 win

Navarro’s goal of attacking the Arkansas Baptist College secondary was on full display on Saturday as the Bulldogs rolled up a season-high 432 yards through the air en route to a 66-20 Homecoming win at Tiger Stadium.

Starting quarterback Carson Earp had his best game of the season, completing 23 of 33 passes for 337 yards and four TDs and the sophomore added a 52-yard score on the ground as the Bulldogs compiled 683 yards and 35 first downs.

The Bulldogs roared to a 38-7 lead at the half as Earp fired touchdown passes of 37 yards to JaBryce Taylor, and 11 and 39 yards to Josh Simmons.

Ke’Aun Kinner had a 36-yard scoring run in the first half in limited action (seven carries, 83 yards).

Defensive lineman Kendrick Johnson added to the scoring deluge when he picked up a fumble and rambled 67 yards for a touchdown, dragging an ABC defender the final 10 yards.

Earp started the second half with his 52 yards sprint for a touchdown and then fired a 9-yard touchdown pass to Austin Collins.

Collins scored again early in the fourth quarter, collecting a 26-yard touchdown pass from backup quarterback Bivins Caraway.

Backup running back Xavier Turner finished the Navarro scoring in the fourth with a 1-yard TD run.

Earp backed Kinner with 75 yards on the ground on only three carries.

Taylor caught a team-high eight passes for 115 yards. After a month-long slump, Collins caught five passes for 94 yards.

Despite the lopsided score, Arkansas Baptist recorded 376 yards of total offense, with quarterback Lavon Meeks contributing 307 yards through the air.

Navarro kicker Carlos Macias nailed a 39-yard field goal for the game’s first points, giving him 16 straight three-pointers in his career.
