Muddled playoff scenario unfolds from Saturday outcomes

OK, Figure Filberts.  All of you who enjoy breaking down possible football playoff scenarios, please pay attention.  Here they come.

Heading into the final week of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference regular-season:  Trinity Valley and Kilgore have clinched two of the slots in the conference playoffs that begin November 1.  TVCC has clinched home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Saturday’s 3 p.m CDT  games include Navarro at Blinn, Kilgore at Tyler, TVCC at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, and Cisco at Southeast Prep Academy.  NEO and Cisco have been eliminated from the playoffs.

The Bulldogs could finish 2, 3 or 4.  A Navarro win, coupled with a Tyler win over Kilgore, could propel the Bulldogs to a second seed and allow them to host a semifinal playoff game against Kilgore on November 1.  On the other hand, they could finish out of the playoff picture and end a streak of seven SWJCFC Championship game appearances.

Here are some possible scenarios:

Tyler wins, Navarro wins

Blinn eliminated

KC, NC, TJC tie for 2, 3, 4.

If TJC wins by 10 or more points, then point differential tiebreaker (17-point max) would make seeds:

1. TVCC
2. Navarro
3. TJC
4. Kilgore

Tyler wins, Blinn wins

Navarro eliminated

1. TVCC
2. Tyler
3. Kilgore
4. Blinn

KC wins, Navarro wins

Blinn eliminated

1. TVCC
2. Kilgore
3. Navarro
4. Tyler

KC wins, Blinn wins

NC, TJC, BC tied for spots 3, 4, 5.

If Blinn wins by 1 point:

1. TVCC
2. Kilgore
3. Navarro
4. Tyler

If Blinn wins by more than 1 point but less than 10:

1. TVCC
2. Kilgore
3. Navarro
4. Blinn

If Blinn wins by 10 or more:

1. TVCC
2. Kilgore
3. Blinn
4. Navarro
