The Southwest Junior College Football Conference game between Blinn and Navarro has been moved to a 3 pm Sunday kickoff at Corsicana’s Tiger Stadium.
Navarro College Athletic Director Roark Montgomery made the announcement Friday night.
Heavy rains exceeding 16.35 inches, impassable Navarro County roads as well as portions of Interstate 45, and emergency flood conditions in the Corsicana area contributed to a ‘domino effect’ change of the local weekend football schedule. The National Weather Service in Fort Worth said that an additional 3 to 6 inches of rain might fall before sunrise Saturday. TxDOT officials shut down parts of I-45 in Navarro County Friday night as more waves of downpours were expected during the weekend.
Friday night’s scheduled high school football game between John Tyler and Corsicana at Tiger Stadium was postponed until either 2 pm or 5 pm Saturday, dependent upon weather conditions here at 10 am.
Sunday’s Navarro-Blinn game will be the final SWJCFC regular-season matchup for both clubs, who will be battling for post-season seeding in the balance.
