Player’s eligibility restored; NC still forfeits 3 games

COLORADO SPRINGS, Col. — The NJCAA on Thursday restored the eligibility of a Navarro student-athlete whose grade issues earlier prompted the Bulldog basketball program to forfeit three conference games.

The ruling allows the player to suit up and participate in the Bulldogs’ remaining basketball games this spring, Navarro Athletic Director Roark Montgomery said Thursday.

The penalty of forfeiting three Region XIV games in which the player participated between January 9 and January 20 was upheld.

It was announced Monday that on Friday, Jan. 29, the Bulldogs had to forfeit wins against Blinn at Brenham on January 9, against Tyler here January 13, and against Bossier Parish on January 20.

As of Thursday, Feb. 4, Navarro remains in second place in the conference standings.

The Bulldogs (13-10/9-4) have an open date Saturday, Feb 6.  They will carry a three-game winning streak to Tyler on Wednesday, Feb. 10 when they next play.
