Sophomore Jamar Martin claimed double first-team honors Tuesday as basketball coaches picked him as an All-North Zone and an All-Region XIV selection.
Also, second-team zone and Region XIV honors went to sophomore Keir Anderson.
Martin and Anderson both scored more than 400 points during the Bulldogs’ 30-game season that ended with a post-season tournament berth.
Martin averaged 15 points as he shot 47.8% from the floor and 40% percent from three-point range. Navarro’s most consistent player scored in double figures 24 times, recorded five games of 20-plus scoring and finished the year with seven double-doubles.
Martin’s 2015-16 season resulted in some numbers that placed him among Bulldog single-season recordmakers since 2000 — 3rd in scoring (449 points), 5th in field goals made (171), 2nd in field goal attempts (358) and 8th in three-pointers made (60),.
Anderson averaged 13.9 points. He produced double-figure scoring in 22 of Navarro’s games, and 20-plus scoring in three games. Anderson shot 83.5% from the foul line during the season and finished fourth in Region XIV individual percentage.
Another Bulldog, Eric McCullom, was selected as an Honorable Mention All-Zone performer after a season in which he averaged 8.6 points and 6 rebounds per game with a team-high 39 blocks.
