First baseman Angel De La Fuente doubled twice and knocked in three runs as the Blinn Buccaneers scored an 8-1 non-conference win Tuesday over the Navarro Bulldogs.
The South Zone Buccaneers improved to 18-12 overall with the road win, their first ballgame in seven days. Coach Matt Podjenski’s Bulldogs slipped to 23-9 overall.
Blinn put leadoff hitters on base in seven of the first eight innings against five Navarro pitchers. Meanwhile, five Blinn pitchers scattered eight hits and the Bulldogs stranded nine runners.
Catcher Colton Parrish hit a two-run homer, while Elijah MacNamee smacked a two-run double, and shortstop Walker Winders had a run-scoring single for Blinn.
De La Fuente’s first-inning double off starter Ryan Buss plated two runs and gave Blinn a lead it never relinquished.
Parrish clubbed a two-run homer during the fourth inning.
Navarro got its only run on catcher Blake Adams’ fourth-inning solo homer.
