Region XIV Women’s Soccer Tournament Semifinal pairings are set this week after regular-season play concluded Saturday.
Coach Alicia Wilson’s third-seeded Navarro Bulldogs (12-4 / 7-3) travel to Mount Pleasant to face the No. 2 seeded Northeast Texas Eagles (14-3 / 7-3) in a 3 pm Thursday match. The other semifinal sends fourth-seeded Angelina (7-8 / 5-5) to Tyler to face Region XIV’s top seed, the Apache Ladies (14-2-1 / 8-1), at TJC’s Pat Hartley Field.
Navarro and Northeast own identical league records, but the Eagles defeated the Bulldogs twice during the regular season for the seeding advantage.
Navarro seized control of the third seed Saturday by securing its fifth consecutive win. The Bulldogs downed Angelina 1-0 as Shantell Thompson broke the scoreless tie with her 13th goal of the season at the 84-minute mark.
In other regular-season finales, Northeast Texas took the measure of Paris, 4-0, while Tyler popped Jacksonville, 9-0.
Semifinal winners will meet for the Region XIV Championship at the home of the higher seed. Region XIV will send its champion as a single representative to the District I Championships later this month.
