A total of 15 players from coach Cody Crill’s Navarro Bulldog football team were named to the 2016 All-SWJCFC team released Saturday.
Navarro seized three first-team positions, 4 second-team slots and 8 honorable mention listings on the mythical squad selected by the league’s coaches.
Sophomore running back Maurice Gordon, outside linebacker Tavares Thomas and freshman safety Matthew Wright were selected as first-team picks.
Gordon, the team’s all-purpose yardage and scoring leader, rushed 126-903-9 and caught 23-201-3.
Tavares Thomas ranked fourth on the club in tackles with 82, but led with 11 sacks, 10 tackles for losses, and shared the team-lead with Ty Thomas in caused fumbles with 3.
Wright averaged 11.4 tackles per game and led the team in stops.
Sophomore wide receiver Andre Bonner and linebacker Ty Thomas, along with freshman offensive lineman Levon Livingston and punter Franky Olguin were named on the second unit.
Bonner snagged a team-high 44-675-8 and finished third in all-purpose yardage.
Ty Thomas logged 83 tackles, with 4 sacks, 8 tackles for losses and 3 forced fumbles.
Five offensive players claimed honorable mention positions on the team, including guard Deon Sheppard, center Nick Dennis, quarterback Kenny Arthur, running back Xavier Turner and tight end Devonte Mims.
Two defensive honorees were linemen James Judie and Pattro Howard. Deep snapper Tony Cantu also was a second-team selection.
