February 1 promises to be an all-athletics day for Navarro

Wednesday, Feb. 1.  It’s one of, if not the busiest athletic day of the school year.

The process will be an all-day Bulldog Nation will be attuned to the football program’s National Signing Day 2017, a softball season-opening doubleheader here, and basketball’s Region XIV East Zone game at league-leading Tyler.

There are several ways to keep up to the minute with the day’s business: (1) follow @NavarroSports on Twitter, (2) check the Navarro College Athletics Facebook page and (3) monitor periodic updates tht will be posted at the Navarro College Athletics Website.

Coach Cody Crill and his staff will commandeer their outposts at the athletic department fax machine, awaiting the return of signed letters of intent from the top incoming freshmen prospects.

At 1 pm Wednesday, coach Jessica Karenke-Burke’s softball team makes its spring debut against Hill’s Lady Rebels at Jesse and Lou Cummings Field.  The Lady Rebels split a twinbill with Trinity Valley, winning the first game 15-6 and losing the nightcap, 10-2.

At 7 pm Wednesday, coach Michael Landers’ Bulldog basketball team (10-10/3-7) will play Mike Marquis’ Tyler Apaches (17-2/9-2) at Floyd Wagstaff Gymnasium on the TJC campus.  The Apaches share the East Zone lead with Trinity Valley (18-4/9-2) after dropping a 76-61 decision to Panola Saturday at Carthage.
