COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Three Navarro College athletic programs earned honorable mention recognitions among the NJCAA’s All-Academic Team competition for 2016-17.

The NJCAA reported a record 740 teams to maintain grade-point averages of 3.0 during the school year.

The three Navarro sports programs honored were coach Alicia Wilson’s women’s soccer, coach Jessica Karenke-Burke’s softball, and coach Matt Podjenski’s baseball.

Navarro’s Region XIV finalist soccer squad combined to post a 3.07 GPA — one of 48 qualifying NJCAA women’s soccer teams.

Softball compiled a 3.15 GPA and was one of 132 NJCAA programs to qualify for the honor.

The Bulldogs’ Region XIV tournament-finalist baseball squad put together a 3.09 GPA — one of 82 NJCAA teams recognized with academic honors.

Earlier this summer when individual student-athletes were accorded NJCAA All-American Academic honors, a total of 15 Navarro student-athletes who maintained GPAs of 3.60 or higher were  featured.
