BRENHAM — On the road again.
The Journey continues for coach Ronda Shirley’s 15th-ranked Navarro volleyball team. After a 4-0 weekend championship here at the Blinn Invitational, the Bulldogs packed up their hardware, their 5-0 week, plus a six-match winning streak and accelerate on the expressways to matches at Pasadena and at Gainesville.
Navarro (22-7/3-1) travels Tuesday to Pasadena to face Region XIV South Zone opponent San Jacinto-Central at Anders Gymnasium. Then, the bus circles north to the Red River for a non-conference match in Gainesville against North Central Texas in Lion Gymnasium.
The Bulldogs have been on a tear. They posted 3-0 sweeps Friday over Frank Phillips (25-18, 25-12, 25-8) and Wharton (25-20, 25-16, 25-21), plus another 3-0 win Saturday morning over Temple (25-11, 25-5, 25-8).
Saturday evening, the Bulldogs scored a 3-2 decision over coach Kalie Mader’s Blinn Buccaneers (20-5), stopping the South Zone leaders’ win streak at six. Blinn, on the fringe of NJCAA ranking, had won 12 of its last 13 matches before falling in a classic — 23-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-14, 21-19.
