Five sophomores from Coach Alicia Wilson’s Region XIV Finalist Navarro Soccer team signed letters of intent with four-year universities and will play soccer.
Sophomores Belinda Anane, Melissa Hamilton, Yessy Hinojosa, Megan Hoppens and Jessenia Rivera played significant roles during the Bulldogs’ successful 16-2 season and march into NJCAA Top-5 ranking all season.
Anane, a defender, totaled 25 points in 11 starts, and scored a team single-game record with six goals in an 8-2 win at Jacksonville on October 6. In addition to two game-winning goals, Anane also dished out three assists.
Hamilton, another defender, started 16 of Navarro’s 18 contests last season.
Hinojosa, a midfielder, totaled 27 points from 13 starts and led the team with 13 goals. She had a hat trick during Navarro’s 9-0 win at Paris on September 23, plus three other 2-goal games (Cisco, Paris and Angelina). The All-Region XIV Honorable Mention selection produced four game-winning goals during the fall 2017 season.
