Police Academy
The Navarro College Police Academy is accredited by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Cadets successfully completing the academy are eligible to take the TCLEOSE Peace Officer examination. The Police Academy offers day and evening classes on the Corsicana Campus.
Admission Requirements:
(1) Must be 21 years of age to be licensed (you may enter the academy at age 20 as long as you turn 21 prior to completing the program). If you are under 21 years of age, it is recommended that you enroll in the Navarro College Criminal Justice Program.
(2) No Class B Misdemeanor conviction in the past 10 years
(3) No Class A Misdemeanor or felony conviction
(4) No conviction of a family violence offense
(5) Applicants must pass a physical examination, a psychological examination & drug screening
(6) A complete criminal history will be conducted
(7) Students must possess a:
- High School diploma OR
- GED & 12 college credit hours (min. G.P.A. 2.0) OR
- Honorable discharge from the armed forces after at least 24 months of active duty or service
(8) Students must not be prohibited from operating a motor vehicle OR by state or federal law be prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. You must not have been dis-charged from military service under less than honorable conditions
(9) You must be a citizen of the United States.
Uniforms & Equipment
All police academy students will be required to furnish their own uniforms, books, semi-automatic handgun, handcuffs & duty belt.
