You should know that, aside from the opportunity costs of filling out a few applications and forms, applying for financial aid is free! Take a look at the name of the application required to apply for all student federal (and some state) need based grants, loans, and jobs – it’s named the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
