Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
To remain eligible for federal and state financial aid programs, students need to make satisfactory academic progress towards achieving a degree or certificate based on the policy noted below.
Standards of satisfactory academic progress are applied to all students who wish to establish or maintain financial aid eligibility at Navarro College, regardless of whether or not they have received financial aid funds in the past.
Academic progress will be monitored at the end of the Spring semester unless you are completing a certificate program in which case progress is measured at the end of each semester.
The Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress includes the following measurements:
- Pass a minimum of 75% of all attempted hours(including transfer hours)
- Minimum cumulative grade point average of 1.5 for first year students (up to 29 semester hours attempted) and 2.0 thereafter.
- Maximum total undergraduate hours attempted, not to exceed 150% of program of study (including credit hours transferred into Navarro College)
The standards are established to encourage students to progress toward their educational objective and complete their degree within a reasonable time frame. A student's eligibility for financial aid may be in jeopardy for the upcoming academic year if the standards are not met.

Example
Students not on a certificate program who are failing to meet satisfactory academic progress at the end of the 2007 spring semester will be placed on probation for the next school year (Fall 2007-Spring 2008). At the end of the spring 2008 semester, another evaluation will occur. At that point, if the student continues not to meet satisfactory academic progress standards, the student will lose eligibility for financial aid.
Loss of financial aid can be appealed. However, reinstatement of aid is not guaranteed.
