LaMont Goodman - Director of Bands
Responsible for the overall Navarro College band program; directs the Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Basketball Pep Band.
In addition to his Navarro College teaching responsibilities, Mr. Goodman directs the New Horizons Community Band in Corsicana. He is an accomplished arranger/composer, and has written music for numerous marching, concert, and jazz bands throughout the country. Mr. Goodman has also been awarded a National Bandmaster of America Citation of Excellence. He has held membership in the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra; he has soloed with the University of Louisiana-Lafayette orchestra; and was a featured performer at the National Clarinet Symposium. Mr. Goodman earned a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music from the University of Louisiana - Lafayette , and has taught previously at Lafayette H.S. (Louisiana), Round Rock H.S. (Texas), and Thibodaux H.S. (Louisiana).
Mary Kuhl - Woodwind Instructor
Teaches all woodwind private lessons, and directs the Woodwind Ensemble.
In addition to her Navarro College teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Kuhl is the flutist with the Jubilee Woodwind Quintet; she plays alto saxophone with the Corsicana Swing Orchestra; and is a member of the Waco Community Band, in which she has played clarinet, flute, bassoon, and has been a guest conductor. Mrs. Kuhl holds memberships in the Texas Music Educators' Association, the National Flute Association, the International Clarinet Association, the North American Saxophone Alliance, and Sigma Alpha Iota. Her area of speciality was woodwind performance while studying at the University of Kentucky and North Texas State University . Mrs. Kuhl has previously taught at Trinity Valley Community College (Texas) and at Asbury College (Kentucky).
John Osborne - Brass Instructor
Teaches all brass private lessons, and directs the Brass Ensemble.
In addition to his Navarro College teaching responsibilities, Mr. Osborne performs and records regularly in the Dallas area. He has played for movie soundtracks, television commercials, and has backed up performers such as Tony Bennett, Elvis Presley, Ella Fitzgerald, and Doc Severinson. Mr. Osborne is also the manager for the Dallas Summer Musical series. He earned a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music at the University of North Texas, where he was a four year section leader in the 1:00 Jazz Lab Band.
Jody Beddingfield - Percussion Instructor
Teaches all percussion private lessons, and directs the Percussion Ensemble.
In addition to his Navarro College teaching responsibilities, Mr. Beddingfield is also a private instructor in several area school districts. He is the Youth Music Director at his church, and he is the drummer for the Christian/funk band White Chocolate. Mr. Beddingfield is a member of the Percussive Arts Society. He earned a Bachelor of Music at the University of Texas - Arlington .
Stacy Arnold - Guitar Instructor
Mr. Arnold holds a Master of Music degree from Southern Methodist University where he was a scholarship student and graduate teaching assistant of Robert Guthrie. He also holds a Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar performance from Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro, TN), where he studied under Dr. William Yelverton and Dr. Richard Todd. Mr. Arnold has been guided in master class instruction by David Tanenbaum, Gordon O'Brien, and Robert Guthrie (Taos, New Mexico).
He serves as Professor of guitar at Navarro College and Hill College. Previously, he has been professor of guitar at Southwestern Assemblies of God University and North Central Texas College. He has also served as an alumni guitar instructor in the community education program in connection with the Meadows School of Music at Southern Methodist University. Currently he serving as Artist in Residence with Waxahachie classical (WaxaClassical.com) in Waxahachie, Tx.
Mr. Arnold has been a featured performer with the West Fest Music Festival, the Arts in the Airport Series at the Nashville International Airport, the Crape Myrtle Festival in Waxahachie, Texas, and has performed for numerous venues that include the Opryland Hotel, Layland Museum, the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Stoneriver Mansion, The Rosemary Mansion, The Vanderbilt University Club and Thistle Hill.
Recent performances include concerts at North Central Texas College, the Waxahachie public library performance series, St. Joseph's Catholic church, St.Athanasius Episcopal Church, Evangel University Artist Series, Fivetwelve College Tea House Concert Series, Hill College Performing Artist Series, Robson Ranch Concert Series, and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Mr. Arnold's concerts showcase the guitar's heritage from Renaissance Spain through the 20th century with an emphasis on the music of Latin America.
Christina Mimms - Piano Instructor
Christina Mims is a graduate of Baylor University and lives in Teague with her family. She teaches piano students of all ages through her home studio as well as Private Instruction, Class Piano, and Music Appreciation at Navarro. Mrs. Mims is a member of the Music Teacher's National Association and the National Guild of Piano Teachers. She enjoys being a mom, scrap booking, and pampering her Chihuahua.
