Adjunct Massage Therapy Instructor – Corsicana and Waxahachie Campuses

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Adjunct faculty positions are part-time instructor positions. Navarro College keeps an open pool of adjunct applications for all teaching disciplines listed on our web site. The applications are made available to the Deans and Assistant Deans for review, and will be kept on file for one year. This listing is for a Massage Therapy Adjunct on our Corsicana and Waxahachie Campuses.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for teaching a variety of undergraduate Massage Therapy courses.
  • Teaching assignment includes classes at the Corsicana and Waxahachie Campuses.  Please indicate your campus preference on your application.
  • Summer classes may be available for assignment.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • For courses involving  Massage Therapy Techniques or manipulation of soft tissue courses a valid Texas Department of State Health Services Massage Therapy Instructor’s License is required.

For courses other than Massage Therapy Techniques or manipulation of soft tissue courses:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with completion of nine semester hours or twelve quarter credit hours in subjects related to the subject area to be taught; or have a minimum of one year of practical experience within the last ten years in the subject area to be taught; OR
  • Associate’s Degree with completion of nine semester hours or twelve quarter credit hours in subjects related to the subject area to be taught with a minimum of one year of practical experience within the last ten years in the subject area to be taught, or a minimum of two years of practical experience within the last ten years in the subject area to be taught; OR
  • High School Diploma or GED with two years of practical experience within the last ten years in the subject area to be taught.

Preferred:

 

  • Certification as CPR instructor by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross or the National Safety Council
  • Certification as First Aide instructor by the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association or the National Safety Council.
  • Prior teaching experience highly preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Variances from regular working hours may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Busy working environment with numerous interruptions.

REPORTS TO:  Massage Therapy Director

SALARY:  Commensurate with Education and Experience
