During Poetry Month, take some time to read and remember one of the greatest poets and playwrights of all time: William Shakespeare, aka The Bard. Although his actual birthdate is unclear, church records show that he was baptized on April 26, 1564. Also known as England’s national poet, Shakespeare was able to “capture the complete range of human emotion and conflict” in a body of work that he produced in only 25 years. Four hundered years later, these works are still relevant and beloved. Shakespeare died on April 23, 1613, at the age of 49.
There are over 100 books at Sanchez Library which are about Shakespeare or contain his works. There are also 37 streaming videos you can watch by just going to the Resources tab and scrolling down to “Shakespeare’s Plays.” Check them out – @ your library!
