The Navarro College Learning Resource Center has as its primary mission
service to Navarro College students and patrons within the Navarro College
Service Area. The Learning Resource Center will provide to patrons a
comprehensive library and learning facility complete with a wide selection
of books, magazines, periodicals, journals, video technology, audio
technology, computer technology and reference/bibliographic services.
To this end the Navarro College Learning Resource Center will strive:
- to secure, organize, and service books, periodicals, videos, documents
and other learning and library materials to support the instructional
programs and research project activities throughout the college;
- to provide appropriate services, physical facilities, and equipment
for maximum access to the collection and effective use of library
materials;
- to provide instruction in the efficient use of the library and its
materials through programs of orientation and bibliographic instruction
and individualized instruction in the use of particular materials
and equipment for students, faculty and staff;
- to provide materials and assistance to faculty members in their
instructional and research activities;
- to provide materials and assistance to the staff of the college
for use in the performance of their administrative and executive responsibilities;
- to cooperate with other libraries in the community, state, and nation
in increasing the availability of resource materials;
- to encourage the habit of reading and the use of libraries in order
to develop the student's potential for self-education and intellectual
development for lifelong education;
- to encourage recreational reading for the enrichment of the lives
of the individuals of the college community and community at large;
and
- to make available materials for all members of the community the
library serves, without exclusion.
