Against the background of tightened economy and of changing political and government issues, the Navarro College Library and Learning Resource Center has accepted the exciting challenges and opportunities that the future poses for all of us. If Navarro College is to be a leader in education, the Library and Learning Resource Center must provide services that allow faculty and students to grow.

During the coming years, we will focus on several tasks, especially those of library technology and its associated opportunities. The materials and equipment found in our facilities will enable our students to take a variety of approaches to their education. One of our goals will be to provide any material which will help them as they pursue intellectual excellence. Another goal is to provide staffing and library professionals who are helpful to patrons and knowledgeable in a wide variety of research topics.

The Gaston T. Gooch Library and Learning Resource Center is named in honor of Gaston T. Gooch, Dean of Students at Navarro College from 1946-1965. The Verda Gooch Courtyard provides a lovely entrance to the facility, which was built in 1963.

We hope you'll visit us at any of our library facilities. We hope to be of service. Please let us know if we can help. The Navarro College Library and Learning Resource Center staff accepts the challenges before us with conviction, confidence, and courage. We invite each of our patrons to join us as we go forward together into the future.

Darrell G. Beauchamp, Ed.D
