Defending a National Title to Appearing on National TV

The Navarro College Cheerleaders are preparing to defend their national title at the NCA Championships while former Bulldog cheerleader, Carson Rapsilver, debuts his first appearance on national TV.

Carson Rapsilver, originally from the Houston area, was a Navarro College cheerleader from 2011-12 where he helped the Bulldogs secure a national title. In early March 2015, he became a YouTube star with a viral video of himself dancing on a treadmill. With over six million views, the video gained Rapsilver, who goes by “Carson Dean”, the attention of daytime talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres. He will appear on Ellen, Thursday, April 2.

The Bulldog cheerleaders have their sights set on nationals as they take to the road April 7 traveling to Dayton Beach, Florida, to defend their title. The team has 11 overall national championships, six in a row and three Grand National titles, meaning they outscored all other colleges and universities from across the country.

“We have put in a lot of extra hours over the past couple of months in preparation for nationals, and we are hoping that our hard work pays off next week,” said Head Cheer Coach Monica Aldama.

If interested in seeing the Navarro College cheerleaders in action, a Navarro Cheer Showcase will be held in the Special Events Center, located on the Corsicana Campus, Thursday, April 2, beginning at 7:00 p.m.. Cheer teams from SMU, University of Texas at Arlington, Sam Houston State University and Tyler Junior College are all scheduled to perform in addition to the Navarro College Bulldogs. Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend.
