Health Professions Scholarship 2015


Corsicana, Texas – The Navarro College Foundation awards scholarships to qualified students throughout the academic year, many awards being offered to students within a specific discipline. Navarro College awarded $17,500 to deserving nursing students through the Kinzie and the Nussbaum scholarships during the 2014-15 academic year.

Kinzie Nursing Scholarship

Dr. William Kinzie practiced medicine in Ennis, Texas, for many years and worked closely with Navarro College nursing during their clinical practice. Dr. and Mrs. Kinzie established this scholarship to provide financial assistance to nursing students. The scholarship awarded students $14,000 in scholarships for the 2014-15 academic year.

  • Karlethia Tyson of Forney, Texas
  • Angela Takacs of Waxahachie, Texas
  • Desirea Thompson of Ennis, Texas
  • Alisha Treece of Bremond, Texas
  • Heather Trojacek of Red Oak, Texas

Nussbaum Nursing Scholarship

The Nussbaum scholarship awarded a total of $3,500 to Navarro College nursing students during the 2014-15 academic year. The Nussbaum Nursing scholarship was established by children of Joe and Shirley Nussbaum to honor their parent’s 50th wedding anniversary. Shirley Nussbaum had a long career as a nurse.

  • Jerry Slate of Waxahachie, Texas
