Navarro College Department of Theatre Presents These Shining Lives: October 22 – 24, 2015
A drama by Melanie Marnich is based on true events in the 1920s and 1930s. It is about a group of women who worked for a clock company that pioneered a dial that glowed in the dark. They used radium to make the watches and clocks iridescent, and the women ingested radium because they twirled the tips of the paintbrushes on their tongues to keep the paint bristles fine. Each of the workers became ill, most with cancer.
