Navarro College Names New Board of Trustees Member, Loran Seely

Board of Trustees Highlight:

In a special meeting on Tuesday, April 7, Mr. Loran Seely was sworn in by Judge H. M. Davenport as the newest member of the Navarro College Board of Trustees.

A native of Navarro County, Mr. Seely grew up primarily in the Emhouse area. After graduating from Blooming Grove High School in 1976, he realized a good education was a key to success and enrolled at Navarro College where he was president of the local chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. He transferred to University of Texas at Austin where he earned a Mechanical Engineering degree.

In 1986, Seely and his wife, Donna, moved to Corsicana to start a consulting engineering firm, Seely-Watkins & Associates. A year later, he began work as a General Manager for Watkins Development Corporation where he was responsible for engineering, design, estimating and construction management.

Seely is also active in his community, serving on various boards that have included Landmark Commission, Corsicana-Navarro County Chamber of Commerce, Corsicana Youth Baseball, Salvation Army, Christmas in Action, Navarro Council of the Arts, and the Navarro County Exposition Center. He is currently a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Corsicana where he also teaches English as a Second Language.

Seely, his wife and their two adult children are proud members of the Navarro College Alumni.
