Navarro College’s Executive Director of Facilities, Karl Humphries, and his team are at it again. The team is responsible for maintenance, repairs, and small renovation projects at the college. The latest project includes a new lighting system along N. Miracle Drive, on the east side of residence life. The project consists of increasing the tree canopies to 14 feet and lowering the light poles to 12 feet. The current light poles are being re-fabricated by the facilities team. The benefit to the students will be increased lighting behind and in front of the dorms.
In addition, a new security gate at the entrance of the residence life area on N. Miracle Drive was completed today. The gate was fabricated and installed by a local company. The gate will be closed from 10:00 pm to 7:00 am to eliminate vehicle traffic into the back of the residence area. Future facility plans being considered include extending a road from the front section of residence life to the back, creating one entrance and exit to the residence life area.
“It’s a privilege to be able to complete a majority of facility projects with our full-time team,” says Mr. Humphries. “It saves the college a lot of money which enables us to complete more renovations, maintenance and construction projects during the year.”
