Child Development Certificate Program
Program Information: The Child Development program provides the student an in-depth opportunity to study the whole development of the child. This program is designed to give the student a practical working knowledge of the child. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be awarded a Certificate of Completion.
Tech Prep: Articulated credit may be available for some courses students complete while in high school. See the Tech Prep Director for more information. Students who take these courses as part of a high school Tech Prep course will need to repeat the courses at the college level in order to transfer them to a university.
Elementary Education - Early Childhood Field of Study Curriculum: The following courses are in the field of study curriculum and will transfer to any public teaching university for students majoring in Early Childhood with a concentration in Early Childhood: TECA 1311, TECA 1318, TECA 1303, TECA 1354. In addition, by individual agreement with Texas A&M University-Commerce, CDEC 1359 will also transfer for students with this major who attend TAMU-C.
A.A.S. In Childhood Development
Program Information: The Child Development program is designed to prepare students to make a positive difference in the growing field of child care. This program prepares successful graduates with the ability to understand the needs of young children, including children with special needs and the ability to develop appropriate learning environments for them. Criteria for quality early childhood programs developed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEY C) have been incorporated into course content. The Associate of Applied Science degree and a Certificate of Completion.
