The Texas Health Care Association (THCA) presented the 2013 Nurse of the Year, Region 9 Award on Tuesday, November 5, to Sandra Ponce at the 63rd Annual Convention and Trade Show held in Austin, TX.
The THCA Nurse of the Year is given annually to a nurse who is a member of the Texas Health Care Association, and has developed a creative and innovative program in dealing with resident and staff issues, as well as in the delivery of nursing care in the long term care setting. Recipients are selected based on their dedication to continued professional growth in the long term care nursing field.
Sandra Ponce is a licensed vocational nurse at Millbrook Healthcare and Rehabilitation facility in Lancaster, Texas. In 2009, she graduated from Navarro College on the Waxahachie Campus with a certificate in Licensed Vocational Nursing and looks forward to continuing her nursing education. Her goal is to pursue a bachelors degree in nursing.
