Bulldog softball completed a 3-2 opening weekend at the Island Invitational in Galveston.
Navarro rolled to three consecutive season-opening victories: a 10-4 win over University of Houston-Victoria was followed up by a 14-11 conquest of Rose State, Ok., on Friday.
The Bulldogs, coached by Jessica Karenke and Courtney Anderson, opened play Saturday with a 7-5 win over LSU-Eunice, but dropped decisions of 6-4 to Snead State, Al., and 7-4 to Seminole State, Ok.
Navarro won’t play again until Friday when it makes its annual trek to Atmore, Al., to compete in the Creek Indian Classic. The Bulldogs play a Friday tripleheader against Mississippi Gulf Coast at noon, Southern Union State at 2 pm, and a 6 pm reunion with Chattanooga State.
Navarro and Chattanooga State met at Atmore last year, and also in the NJCAA National Tournament at St. George, Ut., last spring.
