Softball’s sweep of BPCC extends win streak to 6

BOSSIER, La. — Navarro’s softball team trounced the Bossier Parish Lady Cavaliers 12-4 and 11-2 Wednesday to extend its winning streak to six games.

NCKCSB1The Bulldogs, coached By Jessica Karenke-Burke and Courtney Anderson, face a big Region XIV East Zone doubleheader at 1 pm Saturday against the Angelina Lady Roadrunners at Jesse and Lou Cummings Field in Corsicana.

Navarro, 26-12 overall and 12-4 in zone play, will be facing the NJCAA’s 12th-ranked Angelina club that swept Paris 8-0 and 12-8 and continued its assault on the program’s power-hitting records.

Angelina now has won three straight games and eight of its last nine.

On Wednesday, the Lady Roadrunners eclipsed their 2015 team record for single-season home runs by slugging five more in their doubleheader victory at Paris to give them 63 after 47 regular-season games.  Taylor Davis (2), Shay Vegas, Tiffany Hinkelman and Kayla Boucher homered during the record-breaking afternoon against the Dragons.

NCKCSB9AC won the opener in 5 innings as Whitney Howerton pitched a four-hit shutout.  In the nightcap, the Lady Roadrunners scored 10 third-inning runs before the Paris recorded an out.  Taylor Odom claimed the pitchng victory.

Navarro split with the Roadrunners at Lufkin March 16 when Angelina was pegged as the NJCAA’s 10th-ranked club. The Bulldogs rolled 7-1 in the opener and AC secured a 6-4 win in the nightcap.
