Five members of the Navarro Bulldogs softball team earned All-Region XIV East Conference post-season honors in some capacity, it was announced Tuesday.
Sophomore outfielder Miranda Worthington added a first-team all-conference selection to an all-region spot awarded during the league tournament last weekend in Houston.
Four other members earned second-team honors, including catcher Nicole Matise, third baseman Catherine Alvarado, outfielder Anika Barbosa and shortstop/outfielder Jaclyn Kresta.
Matise, a sophomore, caught 49 games and hit .264, with six doubles, two home runs and 11 runs batted in.
Alvarado, another sophomore, hit in six of her final eight games and finished with a .357 batting average. She finished second behind Worthington in homers (8), and tied for third in doubles (11).
Freshman Barbosa played in all 52 games and had a slash line of .373/.412/.521. Barbosa led the club in triples (7), finished second in runs (50) and total bases (88). She hit two home runs, knocked in 30 and stole 16 of 19 bases.
Kresta, another freshman, hit .346 in 51 games with three home runs, 19 runs batted in and three stolen bases. Kresta, who hit in six of her final eight ballgames, led the team with 16 doubles.
