28 Jun South Adelaide’s Young earns POW after 45-point game
Ivory Young, now playing professional basketball for the South Adelaide Panthers in Australia’s Premier League, was honored as the Player of The Week.
Young, a former Navarro College and Utah Valley University player, scored 45 points, grabbed eight rebounds, made five steals and dished out four assists in 37 minutes of play as the Panthers scored a 94-90 win over the second-place Norwood Flames on Saturday, June 23.
The 6-foot-3 guard helped Navarro to a 22-8 regular season in 2014-15, where he ranked fourth in career three-point shooting percentage (45.8 from 74-of-152 shots). He averaged 14 points and 4 rebounds when he was recruited out of Houston Strake Jesuit High School.
Against Norwood Saturday, Young was 18-of-36 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-10 from three-point range. He sank all five of his free-throw attempts as the sixth-place Panthers won their Week 14 game and improved to 6-8 overall.
Young and the South Adelaide Panthers play the unbeaten, league-leading Southern Tigers (14-0) on Saturday, June 30.
