Navarro sophomore forward Valentina Carvajal on Wednesday was selected the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Player Of The Week.
Carvajal scored three goals and dished out an assist last week as Navarro claimed Region XIV victories over top-ranked Tyler and Blinn and advanced to the top of national rankings.
The Cali, Colombia, native scored twice in the first half last Wednesday as the Bulldogs snapped Tyler’s 19-match unbeaten streak in a 3-2 win over the Apaches — their third straight win over TJC in Corsicana.
On Saturday in a 5-0 win over Blinn at Brenham, Carvajal scored her 10th goal of the year and issued her seventh assist of the season on Maresa Carter’s first goal.
Carvajal is the first Navarro player to earn NJCAA Player of the Week recognition this year.
