The floor at Wolens Special Events Center officially will be renamed “Lewis Orr Court” to honor Navarro’s Hall of Fame Basketball Coach.
Coach Orr will be honored with a luncheon preceding the dedication of the floor at halftime on Saturday, Nov. 3, Navarro Athletic Director Michael Landers announced Thursday.
Orr’s name is synonymous with Navarro Basketball. He spent 37 years as an NJCAA head coach — 32 of that here. He collected 678 wins — third most among Texas junior college basketball coaches — and was inducted into NJCAA Hall of Fame in the Class of 2009. That year, Navarro reached the NJCAA Basketball Tournament in Hutchinson, Ks., for the first time.
Work began Thursday on the Wolens SEC court that will soon bear his name, Landers said.
Landers thanked donors and Bulldog supporters that have helped make this possible.
