Soccer’s Carvajal signs with Midwestern State

Navarro Soccer’s Valentina Carvajal signed Friday to attend Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls and play soccer for the Mustangs of the Lone Star Conference.

Carvajal, a Cali, Colombia, native, will transfer to MSU for the 2019 spring semester, according to Navarro coach Alicia Wilson.

Carvajal was the top goalscorer (19), third in assists (10) and second-leading pointmaker (48) for Navarro’s 15-2-2 NJCAA Tournament Qualifiers. The sophomore forward had two hat tricks during conference play, and also had a two-goal game in the Bulldogs’ 3-2 win over Tyler here at The Roark Montgomery Soccer Complex.

Midwestern State, now coached by Ryan Spence, has competed at or beyond the conference tournament semifinal level 19 of 24 seasons. The Mustangs also have advanced to NCAA Division-II South Central Regionals five times since 2010.

Carvajal is the fourth member of Navarro’s Region XIV finalists to sign and announce transfer plans. Earlier this month, Maitane Bravo and Andrea Rabanales signed with Ball State University in Muncie, Ind., and Wasila Diwura opted for Lamar University in Beaumont.
