Parr, staff excited with 50 signed during NSD 2019

—   New Navarro College head football coach Scott Parr and the Bulldogs’ coaching staff now have more reason to be excited.

On National Signing Day Wednesday, Feb. 6, before 3 pm, they signed 50 incoming freshmen to letters of intent to attend Navarro College and play football for the Bulldogs. NC also announced 19 incoming mid-year transfers, plus 13 outgoing sophomores who signed or transferred to four-year university programs.

“I would like to thank Dr. Kevin Fegan and athletic director Michael Landers for their support and with all the resources they have provided us to put this class together,” Parr said, “and I want to thank everyone on campus who helped with our official visits. It takes a team effort. The players felt the family atmosphere here.”

Parr noted that it was “our goal to sign two-deep at every position, and we are reaching it.”

To restock the defensive side Wednesday, Navarro signed 11 defensive backs, eight linebackers and six defensive linemen. To replenish the offensive side, NC signed seven offensive linemen, two quarterbacks, five running backs, 10 receivers and two kickers.

“I want to thank the coaching staff for the tireless work they put in through the process,” Parr said. “About 50 percent of our signing class are NCAA qualifiers. It’s a good mix. Another of our staff goals is to be a champion on and off the field. We are optimistic that the players we have here now on campus and the incoming players will set that footprint. We want to be the best developmental program for players, students and people in the country.”
