Woolley chosen as NJCAA D-I Softball POW

Navarro freshman Jada Woolley was named Wednesday by the NJCAA as its Division I Softball Player of the Week.

Woolley was recognized for a weekly award in which she posted a slash line of .800/.850/1.600, but the Corsicana freshman’s actually been on a longer tear than that.

Woolley’s blistering seven-game hit streak ended Sunday during Navarro’s 17-15 Game 2 win against Paris.

Since an April 19 doubleheader here against Northeast, she had hit a mind-boggling .789, going 15-for-19 with three doubles, a triple, two home runs and 10 RBI. She also walked six times, scored 10 runs and totaled 32 bases over the seven-game stretch as the Bulldogs continued to wage their battle for a Region XIV Tournament berth.

During the streak, Woolley had four multi-hit games bringing her season total to 16.  She went 3-for-5 during the run-ruled doubleheader sweep here over Northeast, 7-for-8 in two games at Bossier Parish and 2-for 3 against Angelina here.

Her season slash line of .474/.519./.888 tops the club.  She ranks second in home runs, walks and total bases and third in doubles, triples and runs-batted-in this season.
