5 NC softball players named all-conference

Five members of the Navarro softball team earned Region XIV All-Eastern Conference honors.

Freshmen first-team selections included third baseman Sarah Koeppen and outfielders Jessa Johnson and Jada Woolley.

Second-team honors went to freshman shortstop Madison Pond and sophomore second baseman Kamryn Wells.

Koeppen led the Bulldogs in eight offensive categories this season and ranked second in five others. She topped team statistics in home runs (18), runs-batted-in (58), hits (67), runs scored (52), walks (16), extra-base hits (28) and total bases (109) with a slash line of .444/.506/.863.
Johnson shared the team’s stolen-base leadership with 19 steals in 20 attempts, hitting .403 in 46 games.

Woolley had the team’s top individual slash line with .474/.519/.888 and won an NJCAA Player of The Week honor April 28. During a seven-game hitting streak that began April 19, she was 15-for-19 (.789) with three doubles, a triple, two home runs and 10 RBI. In that time, she walked six times and scored 10 runs.

Pond batted.405, scored 41 runs and stole 19 bases. She hit safely in 38 of the 46 games in which she played and finished the season hitting safely in 12 of her final 13 contests. She was second on the club in hits (60) with a team-high seven triples.

Wells, named earlier this spring as an all-tournament pick at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, hit .374 in 47 games. Among her 58 hits were eight doubles and four triples. She was a perfect 10-for-10 in steals.
