Soccer drills Paris, 8-0, for 2nd league win

Navarro Soccer scored seven first-half goals, including three within a four-minute span, en route to an 8-0 Region XIV win Saturday over Paris at The Roark Montgomery Soccer Complex.

Coach Alicia Wilson’s 11th-ranked Bulldogs (3-2) won their third straight match and second straight conference game in as many days.

Annalise Rangel and Nicole Olaya each scored two goals to pace Navarro’s largest scoring output of the young season.  Sophomore Tateyanna Pitter scored one and assisted on two others.

Manyima Stevelmans assisted on goals by Olaya and Samantha Moran during Navarro’s four-minute burst midway in the first half. Sandwiched between those goals was Laura Jansa’s penalty-kick score at 28:00.

Sophomore Roneisha Frank took a Pitter pass and began Navarro;s scoring with a shot from the right side, eight minutes into the game.

Eleven minutes later, Rangel took another feed from Pitter and connected from about 30 yards out.

Six players scored for NC, which fired 24 shots.

Goalkeeper Grace Staunton recorded the shutout victory.

NC travels Wednesday to Jacksonville to face the Lady Jaguars in a 4:30 pm conference matchup.
