Doumbia’s double-double helps to deck Lee

BAYTOWN — Souleymane Doumbia scored a game-high 32 points. cleared 12 rebounds and blocked four shots as Navarro opened Region XIV Conference play Saturday with an 84-77 win over Lee College.

Doumbia was a difference maker Saturday as coach Grant McMillan’s Bulldogs (4-4/1-0) outrebounded the Rebels 42-28.

Tyrese Ross taalied 15 points, dished out six assists and had three steals for Navarro.  German Kasanzi added 14 for the Bulldogs, which led 44-38 at halftime.

Ishmael Cruz Paris and Chris Osten topped Lee scorers with 18 apiece, while Keontae White netted 17 points, five rebounds, seven assists and four steals for the Rebels.

Navarro handed Lee (8-2/0-1) its first homecourt loss of the season.
