BY MIKE MONTFORT    —

Five Bulldogs hit double-figure scoring and two produced double-doubles Wednesday as Navarro ran over winless Victoria 98-64.

Lots of positive results came from the stat-stuffing game as coach Grant McMillan’s Bulldogs won their 10th game of the season and improved to 4-2 in the Region XIV East Zone chase.

Sophomjore guard Dravon Clayborn equaled his NC single-game high with 16 points, coming from 6-of-7 shooting from the floor. Additionally, the 6-foot-2 guard grabbed six rebounds, issued a team-high seven assists and made four steals.

Season-first double-doubles were fashioned by sophomore forward Sherman Robinson (13 points with a personal and team-high 13 rebounds) and by freshman German Kasanzi in his first action returning from injury December 7 at Lufkin.

Kasanzi hit 9 of 13 shots for a team-high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, both personal-season highs.

Souleymane Doumbia contributed 15 points and five rebounds with a blocked shot, while Brian Washington added 10 points, five boards and two blocks.

The Bulldogs raced to a 51-28 halftime lead and returned on an 18-3 second-half run to the 16:29 mark. NC opened up as much as a 44-point lead over the smaller Pirate squad that is playing its first season Division I basketball after several club-level seasons.

NC hit 51 percent of its shots (42-of-82) and cleared a season-high 55 rebounds (20 offensive) in the contest

Navarro hosts the Lamar State-Port Arthur Seahawks in a 4 pm Saturday Region XIV conference game at Wolens SEC.
