Softball rallies for split at Bossier

Navarro and Bossier Parish split Wednesday’s conference-opening doubleheader. BPCC won a run-ruled 9-0 opener, while Navarro rallied for a 5-4 win in Game 2.

BPCC pitcher Mabry Smith hurled a two-hitter and struck out 10 as the Cavaliers extended their winning streak to 13 games and won their 20th of the season.

Home runs by Rebecca Shepherd and Haily Ebey powered BPCC’s 12-hit attack. Shepherd, Ruby Butler and Hailey Pence each knocked in two runs.

Navarro managed only a one-out single by Sarah Koeppen in the fourth and a fifth-inning leadoff single by Jessa Johnson.

GAME 2 – Navarro 5, BPCC 4
The Bulldogs gained a split as Callie Waller’s sixth-inning, pinch single drove home Alanna Islas who doubled.

NC broke through with four runs in the third inning thanks to two-run home runs by Faith Fernandez (9) and Sarah Koeppen (3).

BPCC battled back to gain a 4-4 tie in the fifth after Rebecca Shepherd’s two-run shot and a solo homer by Haley Ebey.
