Drinnon joins NC basketball program

—   Bulldog Basketball welcomes six-foot sophomore transfer guard Drue Drinnon, Navarro coach Grant McMillan announced Friday.

Drinnon started eight games and saw action in 27 for The University of New Mexico Lobos during the 2018-19 season, finishing third in assists (62) from 13.9 minutes of playing time per game. He had a personal-high collegiate game of 13 points, and another with 12 assists during December, 2018.

The former four-star recruit from Smyrna, Ga., played his senior season for The University School of Nova Southeastern in Fort Lauderdale, Fl., after earning first-team all-state honors during his first two years at Pebblebrook High School (Georgia).

Drinnon led Pebblebrook to its first state playoff appearance in 2014-15 and a Sweet 16 berth in 2015-16. While becoming Pebblebrook’s all-time freshman scoring leader, Drinnon averaged 24 points, six assists, five rebounds and two assists. He surpassed 1,000 career points 10 games into a sophomore season when he followed up with averages of 25 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals.

Drinnon joins freshman guard Jaylen Harrison from A&M Consolidated High School as Bulldog basketball signees for the 2020-21 season.
